Hi there,
I wanted to pass on a really cool challenge thought up by Cara over at Cara Quilts.
I have personally been struck recently by seeing homeless women begging for money on my street corners and have been contemplating what I can do to help. I have given cash, but in my heart I know that is not enough. These women should not be standing on street corners asking for help. There has to be another option.
So, this challenge is really speaking to me. I hope you take part and continue to take part, even after the deadline (and yes, there are amazing prizes for crafty and sewy types. What the heck!!??). Here is Cara's post explaining her motivation and the rules of the challenge: Basic Charity Challenge.
Thanks very much, and please spread the word!

From Fat Quarterly: "Cara is challenging all of us to step up and help out in our local communities ... and have the chance to win fabulous prizes in the process. Cara's Basics Charity Challenge is simple in its premise: make a small donation of personal essentials -- like paper towels, toiletries, underwear, and socks -- to a local organization in need in your community. Let Cara know that you did it. Win great prizes. It's that easy."
