This looks like a lot of fun, so I wanted to spread the word!
I am definitely marking my calendar. New projects and cookies, ..how could you go wrong??
Side note: I can't believe it's almost Christmas already. Seriously.

Request for Services
A friend of mine asked me last night if I could custom make a watch bracelet for her daughter for Christmas. She had bought one on line and when it came it was HUGE. I readily agreed and we discussed the style, colors and price and she wants me to get started right away.
It's not like its a ton of money, but just the fact that someone likes and trusts my abilities enough to ask me to make them something for their kid...I'm just over the moon.
I have four more pieces to post on Etsy today that I made last night. Nothing has sold, but that's okay. I'm out there in the world!
Happy Sunday

New Jewelry
I finished six new pieces of jewelry and they are up on Etsy. Yay!
Here is the link.
I tend towards the darker side of jewelry. Silver, dark silver, black. Along with ribbon, velvets, sparkly stuff. :) Halloween is a perfect time for me. Since this is my first time doing it, we'll see how it goes. This is all a great learning experience. I should have been working on Halloween themed items months ago, I know. Ah well. I'll just have to make do!

Another Give Away
I promise that all my posts won't be about give aways, but there are just so many going on at any one time, I have to share about the really good ones!
This is a give away for an AccuQuilt Go! cutter. I have been needling and cajoling my husband into letting me buy one of these guys. $350 retail is a lot for us, but Joann's had it down to $250 this weekend and I had gift cards that would bring it down to $160! But, that was still too much. :( So, I am really hoping that it's me who wins. ;)
But, everyone deserves a chance, so follow this link and enter!
Happy Weekend,
J

New Forum
Hi there!
I just found out about a new forum that is all about fabric. Since I am now addicted to the stuff, I figured, why not join in with others who are addicted as well. :)
Here is the web link and I have posted a widget on the left hand side of this blog.
There is also a give away happening at Little Bluebell to help promote the new forum. Go check it out!
I am very excited to start using this forum. Hope to see you there!

The Wheels on the Bus
..go round and round...
I've been singing this song lately. Life is the bus and the wheels just keep on turning.
I recently found out that a close Aunt was diagnosed with skin cancer. She is going in for surgery on the 22nd to have it removed and I wanted to send her a comforting card.
Tea is comforting to me. Not sure why..I have just always really like tea and tea sets and tea parties. In my mind I love the traditional English afternoon ritual of stopping everything for a cuppa and some sandwiches or cookies. Must be in my blood. ;)
Anyway, I found this tutorial from SplitCoastStampers (one of my absolute favorite web sites) for a card that could hold two tea bags. I decided to make this and send it to my Aunt.
Here's how it turned out:
Here is the side view where you can see the two tea bags in there (and a little note I wrote). |
The front (that's a quilled flower, top left) |
And the back |
Should have gotten a shot of the inside, but I didn't want to unwrap it again. Sorry!
It wasn't difficult, but you do need some basic supplies. A scoring board, trimmer, paper, ribbon, embellishments. And I didn't add the extra cord to hold it all in there. Just some glue.
You can upload finished projects on Split Coast if you want to show off. ;)
Happy Saturday ya'll.

Yin and Yang
Hi there-I realized that I had better update my blog. Since it had been, like, 7 months!
Within those seven months I have done a lot of sewing and learning to sew. Originally I was going to start quilling and card making for a living. But lets be honest, it's really difficult to make any sort of living that way. It's difficult to make a living as an artist, period! And, I know I'm not THAT good. So, I turned to sewing.
My sister had a new baby in June and I offered to make her a diaper bag. A diaper bag turned into that plus a changing pad, plus a wet bag, plus a wipes bag..plus a pieced blanket...and I was hooked.
Similar to quilling, I love taking strips of fabric (or paper) and turning them from nothing into something beautiful.
I quit my 'real' job a couple weeks ago. I decide to make the leap and do this crazy thing. The next day, my mother in law was diagnosed with brain cancer. Talk about ups and downs.
I was ecstatic for my new adventure, but devastated for my family. So now I am taking each day as it comes. I sew and create when I can, I help my MIL with her needs when I can and I find time for my husband dogs when I can. Oh, yeah, and time for ME! Like this blog and all my new blog friends. :)
Here is a picture of my latest finished sewing project. Mommy and Me aprons for my sister's birthday. I think they came out beautifully! ;)
Til next time,
Jansie
